Nausikaä El-Mecky

Nausikaä El-Mecky Bio PhotoCurator and Performance Artist Nausikaä El-Mecky is of Polish and Tunisian decent, and was born and raised in The Netherlands. She is a Fellow of the interdisciplinary research group Bildakt und Verkörperung at the Humboldt University in Berlin led by Professors Horst Bredekamp and Jürgen Trabant.

She holds a PhD in History of Art from the University of Cambridge. Her dissertation, titled Dangerous Art: Towards a Theory of Organised Legal Attacks on European Art, is currently prepared for publication as a book.

Her research interests include Contemporary Art, Dutch Art of the Golden Age, Fin-de-Siècle Vienna, Nazi Art Policy, Museum and Cultural Studies and Anthropology.

As a performance artist, Nausikaä El-Mecky works across several media, including theatre, film and design. A lecturer at different universities and creative consultant for numerous organizations that promote and support artists, one of her principal goals is to establish and deepen the audience’s personal connection with artworks.
