Joan Taylor

taylor, joanJoan Taylor is Professor of Second Temple Judaism and Christian Origins in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, King’s College London. She gained her doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, and taught in the departments of History and Religious Studies at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, before moving to England. Her work spans literary, historical and archaeological studies, with a key focus on understanding aspects of Second Temple Judaism and early Christianity within their cultural contexts. Her latest book is one she has edited: The Body in Biblical, Christian and Jewish Texts (London: T&T Clark, 2014).
