Joseph Winters is Assistant Professor of Religion at Duke University. His research interests lie at the intersection of modern religious thought, African American religious thought, and critical theory. His first book, Hope Draped in Black: Race, Melancholy, and the Agony of Progress, will appear from Duke University Press in June 2016.
