J. Patrick Hornbeck II is Assistant Professor of Theology and Medieval Studies and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Theology at Fordham University, New York. His primary areas of interest include heresy and heresiography in the Middle Ages, the English Reformation, medieval spirituality and mysticism, and Roman Catholicism in the contemporary United States. Hornbeck’s first monograph, What Is a Lollard? Dissent and Belief in Late Medieval England appeared in 2010 from Oxford University Press; he has subsequently published a range of edited and translated volumes, journal articles, and book chapters and is currently working on an historiographical survey of scholarship on late medieval English heresy, as well as on a book project on “deconversion” in contemporary Roman Catholicism.
