Ingie Hovland is a social/cultural anthropologist who writes on Christianity. Her first book examines the intersections of Christianity, colonialism, and space-making, and is titled Mission Station Christianity: Norwegian Missionaries in Colonial Natal and Zululand, Southern Africa (Brill, 2013). Her current research focuses on the practices and arguments of the so-called “mission feminists” in early-twentieth-century Norway, in order to explore the broader problem of how women use words in Christian communities. She occasionally adds a post to her blog “Reading Notes in the Anthropology of Christianity.”
