Ed Simon is an academic and writer whose research focuses on seventeenth-century literature and religion, and the long genealogies of theological traditions from those centuries as they influence contemporary literature, culture, and religion. He received his Ph.D. in English from Lehigh University in 2017, and his research has been published in a variety of scholarly journals and presented at conferences in the United States and Europe. In addition to his academic writing, Ed is a widely published author who is a regular contributor at sites such as The Atlantic, The Paris Review Daily, Berfrois, Aeon, Nautilus, Jacobin, LitHub, The Millions, Religion Dispatches, Inside Higher Education, The Fortnightly Review, The Revealer, Killing the Buddha, Sacred Matters, The Public Domain Review, Tikkun, History News Network, Queen Mob’s Teahouse, Salon, and Atlas Obscura among several others. He is a founding member of the International Society for Heresy Studies. In addition to his teaching and writing, his current projects include editing The Anthology of Babel, working on the book Engagements with Literature and the Bible to be published by Routledge Press, and writing his collection of essays tentatively titled Printed in Utopia: Dispatches from the Renaissance.
